AC Start is “pre-orientation” – it’s where full-time, Level 1 Fall intake students get organized before AC Day 1.
AC Start gives you (plus parents/families/spouses) a chance to visit the Ottawa campus prior to the first day of school, so that you can get a head start on the information and tools that will set you up for success.
At AC Start you will:
- Familiarize yourself with the online tools you will use to access timetables, grades, and email
- Learn about eTexts and how to use them
- Take a campus tour
- Check out info booths at the College Trade Show
- Get your AC Card/U-Pass (student ID)
A Parent/Family/Spouse Information Session will also be offered on this day.
(Learn about the difference between AC Start and AC Day 1 here, and why it’s important to attend both.)
AC Start sessions run 1:30pm-5:00pm and are offered on a variety of dates in August (there is also a General Session on Monday, August 21, from 9:30am-12:00pm) . Please attend the session specific to your School, found below, or the General Session if you cannot attend your designated date. (Not sure which School your Program falls under? This information can be found on the Algonquin College website). Please note, students with the Centre for Continuing and Online Learning do not need to attend AC Start. Online students will receive information about Orientation later this summer.
The dates for AC Start are:
|Tuesday, August 15||Police & Public Safety Institute and School of Health & Community Studies|
|Wednesday, August 16||Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence|
|Thursday, August 17||School of Advanced Technology|
|Monday, August 21||General Session (not School specific, open to all programs)|
|Tuesday, August 22||School of Business|
|Wednesday, August 23||School of Media & Design and General Arts & Science|
|Thursday, August 24||School of Hospitality & Tourism and Language Institute|
